[WG Announcement] We’ve been visited by people from every continent!

August 5, 2009 Leave a comment was just checking our ClustrMaps statistics page when I discovered that we’ve been visited by people from every continent (excluding Antarctica, of course). A relatively small achievement compared to some top sites, but’s it’s still significant for us.

Let’s think about it. Our blog is relatively small, yet people from every continent have been here. It just shows you how truly worldwide the Internet is, with about 1.6 billion users, the countries with the most online people being China, the United States, Japan, India, and Brazil.

Just a reminder, these locations are based off of the IP addresses of visitors, which can only be used to determine the general region someone is in (often not even city-level accuracy). So rest assured, your privacy is safe.

We owe a big thank you to all of our visitors, and here it is. Don’t forget to check out our Twitter page, and our sister (and former flagship) site TemplatesOne.

[WG Announcement] We’re on Twitter now!

July 22, 2009 Leave a comment

As I’m writing this, Website Graveyard (websiteg) has 6 followers on Twitter. That’s right. Website Graveyard is now available on Twitter at

We’re using a service called TwitterFeed, which will automatically post the title and a summary of our posts to Twitter. So far, the link in our first tweeted post has received 3 clicks.

In addition to summaries of posts, we’ll also post micro updates, (like “Website Y just launched — visit Website Graveyard for more info available soon”) followed by full posts, as well as just thoughts and “micro insights”.

Hope to see you on Twitter!

We’ve switched our theme from Light to K2, similar to our old theme. K2 is compatible with a wide range of layout engines (Trident, Gecko, Presto, WebKit) and browsers: (Firefox, Opera, Internet Explorer, Safari, Netscape, Avant, Maxthon). The header graphics have also been improved.

[WG Announcement] Welcome to the next generation of Website Graveyard

June 18, 2009 1 comment

Website Graveyard is reformatting

Up until now, Website Graveyard has been focused mainly on news, and bringing in a few dozen visitors a month, who are mostly not regular visitors.

This brings up a question: Why go here when you can go to the big tech websites like CNET and TechCrunch.

People want more than just news about topics. They want insight, which is a category in which we at Website Graveyard have only occasionally focused on.

That’s why, from now on, Website Graveyard will be a blog going beyond the news about tech topics and offers insight into them.

There will be more posts, a lot more, turning one-time visitors into regular visitors.

We hope to see you again soon on the new Website Graveyard.

[WG Announcement] We’ve begun to use ClustrMaps

June 11, 2009 Leave a comment

Dear visitors,

I’ve added another widget to Website Graveyard: ClustrMaps. ClustrMaps allows us to see where our visitors are coming from. In the past three days, we’ve recieved 9 visits from the U.S., and one visit each from Ireland, Portugal, Greece, and Qatar.

Now you might be wondering, does this software track where I am? The answer is no. ClustrMaps uses your IP address to determine your approximate location. Your IP address can only determine what metro area you’re in, not your specific address. For example, if you lived in a suburb of Seattle, your IP addresss would probably tell websites that you live in Seattle. So rest assured, your privacy is safe.

Click here to view our ClustrMaps statistics page.
